Tour Name: 9 – Days Cultural Tour to Omo Valley, Ethiopia

Destinations: Addis Ababa, Arba Minch, Dorze, Jinka, and Turmi

Duration: 9 Days & 8 Nights

Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

On arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your Hotel. Check into the Hotel and relax. Overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Arba Minch through Wolayta Sodo

After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Arba Minch (510 Km from Addis Ababa). En route detour to Dorze village. The Dorze people known for their beehive shaped huts made of Bamboo leaves and weaving culture. In this village you will experience how they construct the huts, and you learn weaving tech & how they prepare food from enset tree (false banana). Sometimes they show spontaneous music & dance by young boys & girls, as a surprises.

Later your proceed driving to Arba Minch. Arrive Arba Minch and check into the Hotel. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day 3: Boat trip on Lake Chamo and walk in Nech Sar National Park

This morning you will make a boat trip on Lake Chamo where you will see the crocodile market. Here you spot hippos & giant crocodiles and various low land water birds like the, Great white pelicans, egrets, African Fish Eagle etc… Crossing the lake you came across the Nech Sar National Park for a walk of apprx 2 hrs on the savannah plain to see Burchell’s zebra, baboon, different bird species

Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day 4: Drive to Konso, & visit Konso, UNESCO World Heritage sites

In the morning you will drive to Konso (90 Km from Arba Minch). Arrive Konso and check into the hotel. Then after, enjoy a visit to the Konso villages. Konso people are known for their indigenous knowledge of terracing land, & colorful traditional dress, engraved wooden statues grave markers and 500 years old walled villages, registered as a World Heritage Sites. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day 5: Drive to Jinka

After breakfast you drive to Jinka. Arrive Jinka and check into the hotel. Afternoon, enjoy a visit to Ari village and museum in Jinka. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day 6: Excursion to Mursi village & drive to Turmi

In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Mursi and visit to the of Mursi ethnic groups known for their women wearing large clay plates into their lower lips. Then you will drive back to Jinka for lunch.

After having lunch you proceed driving to Turmi. Upon arrival in Turmi check into a lodge. Dinner will be at the lodge. Overnight stay will be in the lodge.

Day 7: Excursion to Dassench Village & afternoon visit to Hammer village

An early morning drive will take you to Omorate to visit the Dassench people. They are known for their body paintings and scarifications. Spend some time in the village, meet elder people, play with young, and have a cultural exchange with the community members. Later drive back to Turmi for lunch.

In the afternoon visit explore Hammer village. In the evening, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay will be in the lodge.

Day 8: Drive to Araba Minch

After breakfast, you will be driven to Araba Minch (290 Km from Turmi). You will stop for lunch at Konso and will proceed driving to Araba Minch, where upon arrival you will check into a hotel. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day 9: Fly back to Addis Ababa and departure

After breakfast at hotel, in time transfer to flight to back to Addis Ababa. Arrive at Addis Ababa.

You will arrive in Addis Ababa midday/early afternoon enjoy a sightseeing around Churchill avenue & visit the status of the Lion of Juda of Emperor Hailse Selassie, Tigliachin Monuments, Addis Ababa city hall and take a short walk around the old part of Addis Ababa including the first hotel in Ethiopia, Taitu hotel, and old post office. Later you are free last minute shopping.

After a farewell dinner, depending on your flight time you will be transferred to Bole international airport to board the flight for your next destination or back home.
